There are a lot of things to consider when answering this question. The short answer is that you should consider hiring an attorney if you need dedicated, one-on-one advice for a complex transaction. If all you need is general guidance with your business or contracts, then a course or template may be all you need. 

I like to think about this in terms of risk. The more risk you have with a specific matter, the more likely you may need an attorney. The less risk, the more likely you can “do it yourself” with the right resources. 

In the end, it’s up to you. But just to be clear, purchasing a product here does not make Pixel Law or its representatives your lawyer or law firm.

Maybe. Pixel Law (and me, Chris) allows certain individuals and businesses to engage the firm for one-on-one legal advice and representation. However, I am only licensed in Colorado, Kansas, and Missouri (as of 2023) and most of my clients are in those states. I represent some individuals and businesses outside of those states, but I am limited in what I can do for those clients.

This depends on what you buy.

If you buy a course, it will usually include video lessons and a guide (usually a PDF). It may also include other mini-guides, checklists, etc.

If you buy a template or a course that comes with a template, then you will receive a fully editable Microsoft Word document (.docx format). You can edit those in most word processing programs. Those files will usually have instructions inserted as comments. You may need to turn comments on in your word processing program to see them.

In all cases, the specifics of what is included with each purchase will be described on the product and/or purchase page.

It is impossible to guarantee a contract will work in every state in the country because every state has different laws, regulations, court precedent, etc. Further, there are international and federal laws, and also local laws at the county and city level.

With that said, most content in this shop focuses on legal topics that tend to be the same or similar across state lines. Moreover, the content in the shop was created to be as enforceable as possible in as many states as possible. In certain situations, I call out provisions that are well known to differ across state lines. For example, some states place more limitations on non-compete provisions. But just to be clear, I am not promising that I will call out all such instances.

Your purchase is subject to the Pixel Law Product License. You’ll also receive a copy of the license after you make a purchase.

That license gives you limited rights to use the product materials, and contains certain limitations on what you can do with those materials.

You can use the content and templates for your own use but you cannot resell or share the content (see the next couple questions).

Yes! Most templates sold in this shop will be delivered in a fully editable Microsoft Word file (.docx). You’ll be able to open the file in most modern word processing programs and edit it to align with your specific needs. Just keep in mind that I cannot guarantee anything regarding the impacts your edits will have on other provisions in the template.
